Imagine waking up and seeing 1,600 pandas right out your window, because that is exactly what’s happening on the streets of Hong Kong. If you walk around Hong Kong and find this papier-mâché panda invasion don’t worry. It’s just a campaign to raise awareness about the dwindling panda population caused by human activity. Every single panda represents one of the individual left in the world. They may seem like a lot, but it’s actually next to nothing.. They are part of a campaign by French artist Paulo Grangeon to raise awareness on the declining panda population
The artist brilliantly chose the number 1,600 because that’s how many of the animals are left in the world, which may seem like a ton, but given the world’s human population (over seven billion), it’s actually alarmingly very low. These play pandas have attacked other countries including Rome, Paris and Berlin, and hopefully the campaign will spark people’s desire to work towards making sure these majestic animals are here to stay.
